Crawley Police Crack Down with Nine Tough Criminal Behaviour Orders
Crawley’s top law enforcers are hitting back hard against crime. Since January, police have handed down nine Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) to the town’s worst repeat offenders. These orders come with tough conditions aimed at stopping them in their tracks – and breaking the rules means immediate jail time.
Notorious Thief Piron Locked Up for 20 Months
One of Crawley’s biggest crooks, Thierry Piron, 35, with no fixed address, was sentenced to 20 months behind bars after facing Lewes Crown Court on 22 August. His crimes? A string of thefts and an assault that rattled Crawley from April to August. As if jail wasn’t enough, Piron was slapped with a three-year CBO banning him from entering several stores across Crawley and West Sussex.
Shoplifter O’Hare Jailed, Busted for Breaking CBO
Damien O’Hare, 48, also homeless, got three years and three months in the slammer for multiple shoplifting offences in Crawley. Police revealed he also broke a two-year CBO previously issued to keep him in check – a move that cost him heavy time behind bars.
Nine Orders Add Up to 24 Years of Restrictions in Crawley
These two cases are just the headline acts. Altogether, the nine CBOs handed out so far this year total 24 years of restrictions. It’s all part of Crawley’s police crackdown to slash repeat offending and make the town safer for locals and businesses alike.
Crawley police remain watchful, ready to pounce on any offenders who break their CBOs – ensuring swift justice follows any slip-ups.
