Tragedy on Alfreton Road as Dad, 66, Killed in Hit-and-Run

Vasile Predoiu, 66, was fatally struck by a car on Alfreton Road, Bobbers Mill, at around 10.35pm last Friday (17 March 2023). He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two Men Arrested After Fatal Collision

Vasile, who lived in Nottingham’s Broxtowe area, leaves behind a devastated family now being supported by specialist officers.

The road was closed both ways while emergency crews dealt with the crash. The vehicle involved initially fled but returned shortly after.

On Saturday afternoon (18 March), police arrested two 23-year-old men. One faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving, driving while unlicensed and uninsured, and failing to stop. The other was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene.

Both suspects have been bailed as investigations continue.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

“This is a devastating incident and the family are still coming to terms with the shock and grief of losing a much-loved father and husband,” said Detective Constable Emma Temple of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

“Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time. We continue to investigate and urge anyone who saw a dark blue Audi A3 in Bobbers Mill around the time of the collision to come forward.
