Woman Charged After Dramatic Eastbourne Co-op Burglary
Police have arrested and charged a 42-year-old woman following a brazen aggravated burglary at a Co-op in Eastbourne.
Louise King Remanded in Custody
Louise King, from North Avenue, Eastbourne, was detained on Monday afternoon and has been remanded in custody. She is set to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday 18 January).
Co-op Raid Turns Violent
The drama unfolded on Saturday 14 January, when officers were called to an aggravated burglary at the Co-op on Albert Parade. Several items were stolen, including vodka and cigarettes.
Police were later called to King’s home, where concerns for her welfare led to negotiators and specially trained officers being deployed. After securing the scene and ensuring her safety, King was arrested.
Additional Charges for Assaulting Emergency Workers
King faces not only the aggravated burglary charge but also three counts of assaulting emergency workers during the incident.
Detective Inspector Sophie McGarel said: “This was a long-running incident that required the attendance of specially trained officers to ensure the safety of the woman, the officers responding and the wider public. I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while we dealt with the situation.”
