Child hurt in shocking Wickford hit-and-run by quad bike
Quad Bike Strikes Child on Pavement
A child has been injured after a red quad bike crashed into them on a residential street in Wickford. The incident went down shortly after 3pm on Saturday in Aydon Close, Essex Police confirmed.
The quad bike, described as having a black cage on the front, is believed to have entered the street from a nearby field before slamming into the youngster, who was riding a scooter on the pavement.
Driver Flees, Leaving Child Injured
Witnesses say the rider briefly stopped at the scene but then sped off towards Wickford town centre. The young victim suffered a leg injury and was rushed to hospital. No update on their condition yet, but locals are rattled and demanding tighter controls on off-road vehicle use in residential areas.
Three people were seen on the quad bike at the time. Police have yet to release further details on the suspects.
