Met Police Nab Man with £250K Stash of Stolen iPhones, iPads, and Cash in Barking
London’s Met Proactive Money Laundering Team (PMLT) have smashed a major operation, recovering around 200 iPads and iPhones plus £50,000 in cash after stopping a man in Barking.
Stopped in Barking – Huge Haul Discovered
On Wednesday, 15 July, PMLT officers spotted a 31-year-old man entering an underground car park at an office block in Barking. They stopped and searched both him and his vehicle.
Inside a holdall, officers found about 20 brand new iPhone 11 Pro phones. He was promptly arrested for handling stolen goods.
Office Search Uncovers £250,000 Worth of Stolen Tech
Further probing revealed the suspect rented an office in the same building. A search of the premises uncovered approximately 200 iPhones and iPads, plus £50,000 in cash – stock valued at around £250,000.
Suspect Released but Investigation Continues
The man was taken to a north London police station and has since been released under investigation. Police enquiries into the case are ongoing as they work to trace the full extent of the crime.
