Couple Killed in Horror Crash on A85

Tragedy struck on Friday, 31 March 2023, when Martin Cousland, 70, and his wife Josephine, 69, died instantly in a smash on the A85 between Arrivain and Dalmally, Argyll.

The couple from Anstruther, Fife, were driving a red Audi Q2 when it collided head-on with a grey Ford Mondeo at around 2pm. Both Mr and Mrs Cousland were pronounced dead at the scene.

Ford Mondeo Occupants Hospitalised

The three men in the Ford Mondeo were rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Their condition is currently stable.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Sergeant Archie McGuire from Police Scotland’s Roads Policing Unit in Campbeltown said:

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr and Mrs Cousland. We are continuing our investigations and appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the crash to contact us.”

“If you were driving nearby and have dash-cam footage, please get in touch.”

Witnesses can call 101 quoting incident number 1923 from 31 March 2023.

A full report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal as the investigation continues.
