PCSO Justin Keefe received the District Commander’s Award after talking a distressed woman away from the perilous cliff edge. Officers were called to the bay following reports of a woman in distress dangerously close to the drop.
Hour-Long Stand-Off Ends in Rescue
Justin was first on the scene and spent a tense hour coaxing the woman back from the brink. Just as she started to crawl towards safety, she unexpectedly collapsed and lost consciousness at the cliff’s edge.
Coastguards rushed in to recover her, rushing her to hospital for urgent care.
“PCSO Keefe showed outstanding skills in what were very difficult circumstances and managed to safeguard the life of this woman,” said a police spokesperson.
