Police Crack Down on Out-of-Control Chavs in Havant
Police in Havant have launched a no-nonsense operation to tackle a surge in motorcycle chaos in the Dunsbury Hill Farm area. Operation Herd targets the rising wave of anti-social behaviour caused by mini motos, mopeds, GoPeds, and motorbikes tearing up fields and local roads.
Operation Herd Takes on Motorcycle Madness
The Barncroft and Bedhampton Neighbourhood Policing Team swung into action this January after 43 reports since August 2016 flagged nuisance rides, plus 15 motorbike thefts and three suspicious vehicle reports in recent months. Teens have been using a local field as a wild racetrack — ignoring public safety and the law.
Police are cracking down on offences like:
- Riding without helmets
- Driving off-road where banned
- Failing to stop for officers
Havant Borough Council is also stepping up, ready to slap riders with noise abatement notices for causing statutory noise nuisance.
Community Safety at Risk
Sergeant Garry Smith warned: “All anti-social behaviour impacts on people’s daily lives. We’re alarmed by the increase in motorcycle nuisance at Dunsbury Hill Farm. While teenagers may think off-road riding isn’t illegal, this reckless behaviour is deeply troubling for local residents.”
He added: “We’ll be doing high visibility patrols and stop checks throughout January to catch offenders. Most are teens, so we’re working with local schools to educate youngsters on the dangers.”
