Arson Attack on Derelict Building Sparks Major Hunt in Mansfield

Firefighters and cops rushed to Newcastle Street, Mansfield, in the early hours after a derelict building burst into flames. The blaze broke out at around 1.45am on 17 October 2022, causing significant damage to the unused property.

Police Say Fire Likely Deliberate – CCTV Image Released

A joint probe by police and fire crews has concluded the fire was almost certainly started on purpose. Officers are now hunting a woman caught on CCTV who they believe holds vital clues.

PC Abigail 1, Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We have reasons to believe this fire was started on purpose, so we are determined to find whoever was responsible.

“Arson is an incredibly serious and dangerous offence, which can ruin or even end the lives of anyone unfortunate to be caught up in it.

“We believe the woman in this picture could have valuable information about what happened, so we would naturally like to speak to her as soon as possible.”

Police urge anyone who recognises the woman in the CCTV image to get in touch immediately. Quote incident 37 of 17 October 2022 when you call 101.
