Mystery Man on the Prowl: Gosport Police Probe Multiple Suspicious Incidents
Police in Gosport are on high alert after a string of suspicious incidents around the town. Investigations are underway, but it’s unclear if the reports are connected — descriptions of the suspects vary wildly.
Strange Encounters on Cycle Tracks
The latest scare happened on Thursday, May 19, around 5pm near Toronto Place. A 28-year-old woman was walking with her 4-year-old daughter when a man suddenly emerged from the bushes. He reached out toward the little girl before sprinting off. Thankfully, no contact was made and no words were exchanged.
Earlier, on Sunday, May 15, a 9-year-old girl reported a brief encounter with a man on a mountain bike near Kings Road. Again, no contact or harm was done, and the child quickly ran home.
Suspicious Activity in Alverstoke and Park Areas
The Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) have been patrolling Alverstoke following reports of a suspicious man lurking around Green Lane, Bay Road, and Anglesey Road. So far, no crimes have been confirmed.
There was also a disturbing report on Wednesday, May 11, when several teenagers spotted a man exposing himself in a local park. Police are investigating whether this incident ties in with the others.
Police Urge Quick Reporting, Caution Over Rumours
“I’m pleased people are reporting suspicious behaviour,” said Inspector Mark. “Some reports are just gossip or misunderstandings. Varying descriptions suggest not all are linked. With lighter evenings, more people use cycle routes and might notice unusual activity. Please report anything suspicious quickly by calling 101, or 999 in emergencies.”
Officers have already spoken to several individuals and are continuing their inquiries. Locals are urged to stay vigilant but not panic as the investigation continues.
