Victims Were Young Athletes

Police confirmed the girls were struck by a black Ford Focus while running. Both were proud members of the Aldershot, Farnham and District Athletic Club (AFD), a local running group.

MoD Responds to Fatal Crash

A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a fatal road traffic collision occurred in Aldershot Garrison and that a soldier is currently being held by Hampshire Police. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”

Specialist officers are supporting the devastated families of the two teens.

Community Mourns Loss of Young Runners

Queen’s Avenue was shut for hours while police investigated the scene. Tributes have flooded in on social media from friends, family, and the local running community.

Julia Blomquist said: “I woke up to the horrific news this morning. I was hoping it wasn’t true after hearing about it last night. Two young girls from AFD were killed while crossing the road from the stadium. It’s brought me to tears. They were doing something they loved – just like I did. It’s incredibly shocking and heartbreaking. My heart goes out to their parents, friends, and club members. RIP, beautiful angels.”

Allan Leiper, joint team manager of AFD, added: “It is so sad to hear the news about the tragic event outside our training facilities. My thoughts are with the two girls and their families at this very sad time. These girls were chasing their dreams to be the best runners in the world. Rest in peace, girls.”
