Seven Years Behind Bars for Stephen Parfitt
Stephen Parfitt, 45, from Ramsgate, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent in a shocking October 2021 attack. On Thursday, July 14, 2022, Canterbury Crown Court sentenced him to seven years in prison.
Violent Assault in Newington Home
The victim, known to Parfitt, was asleep on a couch in Newington in the early hours of October 16 when Parfitt broke in and launched a savage attack using a craft knife. The victim suffered serious injuries that will affect him for life.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest
- A friend rushed the injured victim to hospital.
- Medical staff informed Kent Police, who were already present nearby.
- Parfitt was quickly identified and arrested on October 17.
Officers recovered the weapon and clothes matching witness descriptions at the scene.
Judge Imposes Restraining Order
Parfitt was charged the day after his arrest and admitted guilt in April 2022. The court also slapped a 15-year restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim.
‘Parfitt attacked his victim as he lay asleep on a couch, completely unable to defend himself,’ said Detective Constable Paul Rigden. ‘The injuries he inflicted will follow the victim for the rest of his life. I hope this sentence provides the victim closure and a chance to move on from this heinous attack.’
