Medway Cracks Down on Nuisance Drivers This Weekend

Kent Police are launching a clampdown on reckless and anti-social drivers from 7pm Friday 7 July until 7pm Sunday 9 July 2023.

Key Hotspots in the Patrol Zone

The crackdown targets the Dockside Outlet Centre in Chatham, Medway Valley Leisure Park in Strood, and their surrounding car parks. These areas have seen a spike in dangerous driving and nuisance vehicles over the past month.

Police Given New Powers to Stop and Remove Troublemakers

The new orders empower officers to stop anyone involved in bad behaviour and move them on. Persistent offenders risk arrest and having their vehicles seized.

“Residents have reported concerns about the dangers posed to other road users and the impact on the quality of life of the community,” said Inspector Daniel Blatter from the Medway Community Safety Unit. “These orders give our officers extra powers to disperse troublemakers and, if needed, arrest those who ignore warnings. Repeat offenders also risk losing their vehicles.”

Police Urge Residents to Report Incidents

This operation is part of Kent Police’s wider Safer Summer campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour. Anyone witnessing problems is urged to report incidents online via the Kent Police website.
