Van Crashes Into Barnham Co-op, Shuts Down Train Station
Chaos erupted at Barnham early this morning when a Transit van smashed into the nearby Co-op store next to the train depot. Railway workers were evacuated as the scene spiralled into disruption, with Southern Rail forced to axe a slew of train services in and out of the station.
Structural Damage and Service Chaos
A telehandler is now holding up the front of the Co-op to stop the building from collapsing further. Meanwhile, the crashed van has been recovered and towed from the scene.
Southern Rail Warns of Delays and Cancellations
Southern Rail issued a warning: “The police dealing with an incident near the railway at Barnham is causing disruption to journeys through the station. Services may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, or revised. We anticipate disruption will continue until 12:00.”
Investigation Ongoing, No Injuries Reported
The cause of the van crash remains a mystery as police probe the scene. Thankfully, there have been no reports of injuries so far. The area stays cordoned off as a precaution, with residents and commuters braced for continued travel chaos.
