Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is reeling after Assistant Chief Fire Officer Adam Matthews resigned with immediate effect. The dramatic exit follows an independent probe into offensive and misogynistic WhatsApp messages leaked to ITN back in April.
Matthews wasn’t alone in the spotlight. Chief Fire Officer Simon Hardiman also faced the investigation, but unlike Matthews, Hardiman is back on the job — albeit with a written warning and compulsory training.
