Drone Fans Warned: Keep Clear of RAF Red Arrows Airspace Over Nottinghamshire!
Red Arrows Training Grounds Now Off-Limits to Drones
Drone users are being urged to steer clear of the skies around RAF Syerston near Newark, Nottinghamshire. That’s because the world-famous RAF Red Arrows are practising their breathtaking aerial routines there.
Temporary flight restrictions are in place until April 7, banning all aircraft—including drones—from flying within a five-mile radius of the base.
Fly Here and Face Criminal Charges
Breaking these rules isn’t just risky—it could land drone pilots in hot water with the law. Anyone caught flying in this Temporary Danger Area (TDA) during Red Arrows’ training sessions could face criminal prosecution.
“Drones can be great fun to fly, but they can also pose a significant danger to low flying aircraft,” warned Sergeant Vince Saunders, chief drone pilot for Nottinghamshire Police.
Stay Safe and Fly Legal
With the Red Arrows soaring through Nottinghamshire skies, authorities remind drone users to be extra vigilant. The flight restrictions operate on a rolling basis, so it’s down to each operator to check when they apply.
Sergeant Saunders pointed to a recent case in Buxton, Derbyshire, where a drone pilot was convicted of endangering an RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. “We want to avoid anything similar happening here,” he said.
