BBC Radio 2 presenter Trevor Nelson has revealed he was diagnosed with a brain tumour after stepping away from his broadcasting work earlier this year.

The 62-year-old DJ and broadcaster said the diagnosis came as a shock and led to him undergoing what he described as “very serious surgery”.

Nelson said the operation “went incredibly well” and that he has spent the past month recovering at home while receiving post-operative treatment.

He has now reassured fans that he is feeling well and intends to return to broadcasting soon.

In a message shared on social media, Nelson said:

“I’m feeling good. I will be back to work very soon. To radio first and later to my DJ gigs.”

He also thanked those who had contacted him during his recovery, adding:

“Thank you for all your messages, your love and your support.”

Nelson has been a prominent figure in British broadcasting for decades and currently presents on BBC Radio 2, alongside his work as a DJ.

His announcement prompted messages of support from listeners and followers as he continues his recovery ahead of his planned return to radio.
