Health Worker Thieves and Serial Burglar Among 27 Arrested by Crime Squad
The Chief Constable’s Crime Squad cracked down hard in January 2022, making 27 arrests and securing authority for 37 charges across the county.
Cold-Blooded Nurses Steal Medication from Terminally Ill
Shockingly, two women posing as nurses robbed end-of-life patients of vital medications, including morphine and painkillers. The pair, sentenced to five years each for conspiracy to burgle, hit at least 25 homes across Thanet, Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay, and Faversham between December 2020 and August 2021.
“They gained victims’ trust by dressing as healthcare workers before stealing critical care packages,” said police sources. Crime Squad detectives pieced together CCTV and mobile phone evidence to nail the offenders.
Luxury Burglar Nabbed After Targeting Sports Cars and Watches
A serial burglar has been jailed for nine years and two months after terrorising homes across Gillingham, Rochester, Higham, Gravesend, and Shorne from October 2019 to February 2020.
The crook snatched high-end goods, including Porsche, Audi, and Jaguar sports cars, plus a luxury Rolex watch. A targeted police raid on a linked address brought the offender to justice following a painstaking evidence hunt.
Violent Disorder and Ram Raids—Crime Squad Keeps Busy
- A man who bit off part of a victim’s nose and upper lip during a pub brawl in Gillingham was sentenced to 15 months behind bars.
- Four men face charges over commercial burglaries in Gillingham, Gravesend, Maidstone, and Sussex, where large hauls of stolen cigarettes were recovered.
- Two suspects charged after a moped ram raid on a Dartford store led to £3,000 worth of hair care products being stolen.
- A 17-year-old boy was remanded for robbing a victim of an e-scooter and jacket at knife point in Canterbury.
Crime Squad Chief Promises No Let-Up
“We have started 2022 strong, targeting high harm criminals and securing tough sentences,” said Detective Chief Inspector Matt Talboys.
“Our results show we serve every neighbourhood and will keep using every tool to get justice for victims.”
With these arrests and convictions, crime-fighting continues full throttle across the county.
