Autonomous Rescue Craft Runs Aground Near Ryde Harbour
Bembridge Coastguard sprang into action after a 999 call alerted them to a 19-metre vessel stranded just east of Ryde Harbour. On arrival, the team discovered an Autonomous Rescue and Recovery Craft stuck fast on the shore.
Grounded for 24 Hours Before Storm Hannah
Witnesses say the vessel had been aground for a whole day, trapped in the eerie calm before Storm Hannah hit. Luckily, the owner had already secured and anchored the craft safely, so the Coastguard stood down without taking further action.
Owner Hopes for High Tide Rescue Tonight
With the high tide rolling in later this evening, the owner is optimistic the vessel will refloat and sail free once more.
