Heartfelt Tributes from Rock Legends
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the great MORE vocalist Paul Mario Day. Paul was a huge part of the scene—from his time in an early version of Iron Maiden to his brilliant performance on the Warhead album. He was a beloved figure in British rock and played some unforgettable shows, including the legendary 1981 Monsters of Rock with AC/DC, Whitesnake, and Iron Maiden.”
Day toured with More alongside giants like Def Leppard and David Coverdale. Bandmate Mike Freeland fondly called him a “bloody great vocalist.”

Before Iron Maiden became legends, founder Steve Harris picked Day as the band’s very first frontman. Although Paul left before their debut record, he laid the foundation for one of metal’s most iconic acts.
Iron Maiden exploded as a key player in the late ’70s New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). They went on to headline massive festivals like Monsters of Rock and released classics such as The Number of the Beast and Powerslave.
