Tragic Triple Death at Epsom College Shocks Community
The bodies of Emma Pattison, 45, her husband George, 39, and their seven-year-old daughter Lettie were found early Sunday morning at a property on the grounds of Epsom College.
Beloved Teacher Mourned
Emma Pattison, Head of Epsom College, was hailed as a “wonderful teacher” and a “delightful person” with a “distinguished career.” The shocking discovery has sent waves of grief through the school community.
Police Confirm No Third-Party Involvement
Surrey Police and emergency services responded to the scene at around 1:10am. After a grim search, officers found the three bodies, including that of the young child, Lettie. The family’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
“At this stage, we believe this to be an isolated incident with no third-party involvement,” confirmed Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey.
“On behalf of Surrey Police, my team, and I, I first want to express my sincerest condolences to the friends and family of Emma, Lettie and George, as well as to the students and staff of Epsom College,” said DCI Edey. “We will conduct a thorough investigation and hope to bring some peace in these traumatic circumstances. We ask that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.”
Community Support and Investigation Underway
Inspector Jon Vale, Epsom and Ewell Borough Commander, addressed local concerns: “This tragic event will have caused upset in the community. Our officers will remain in the area to offer reassurance to students, parents, teachers, and neighbours during the investigation.”
The deaths have been referred to the Coroner as police continue their enquiries.
Dr Alastair Wells, Chair of Epsom College Governors, said: “We are utterly shocked and devastated by this tragic news. Emma enriched so many lives. We will commemorate her and her family in due course, respecting their wishes. For now, we ask for privacy and understanding.”
