Blaze Breaks Out in Lydgate
Emergency crews are battling a huge factory fire in Lydgate, near Todmorden. The inferno erupted on Jumps Road at 7:32pm last Saturday. Firefighters from both West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) rushed to the scene armed with breathing apparatus and hose reels to tackle the blaze.
Roads Shut, Trains Delayed
Authorities have closed roads around the area as a precaution. The thick smoke has prompted officers to urge locals to keep all windows and doors closed. Railway services are taking a hit too, with significant delays and cancellations expected overnight.
No Injuries Reported, But Stay Alert
So far, no injuries have been reported. Both police and fire services urge residents to follow official instructions carefully. They also ask the public to inform friends and family, especially those without internet access.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service statement: “We currently have six crews at a building fire in Todmorden. We were called at 19:32 to Jumps Road. Crews from WYFRS and GMFRS are tackling the fire using breathing apparatus and hose reels. All residents are asked to keep windows and doors closed due to the large amount of smoke. The road has been closed as a precaution.”
