Quick-Thinking Rescue by Fire and Coastguard Teams

The Coastguard then hauled the man from the water. He was handed over to SECAmb paramedics and rushed to hospital. The RNLI and Kent Police also attended the dramatic rescue.

Fire Chiefs Warn: Stay Clear of Dangerous Waters

Following the incident, Kent Fire and Rescue Service urged the public to be cautious around water and only swim in designated areas.

“Sometimes water is not as safe as it may seem, and is full of dangers you can’t see,” said Leanne McMahon, KFRS Group Manager for Community Safety.

  • The water is often deeper than it looks
  • Strong currents can drag you down
  • Cold water causes cramp and breathing issues
  • Hidden debris like shopping trolleys and broken glass can cause injuries
  • Polluted water can make you seriously ill

“A quick dip can turn into a deadly situation. Please stay safe by only entering waters designated for swimming.”
