Dramatic RNLI Rescue in Stormy Seas Off Cowes

RNLI lifeboat crews launched a daring rescue mission this morning in storm-force conditions. Volunteers from Cowes sprang into action to save a 40ft sailboat in serious trouble.

Mayday Call Sends Lifeboats Into Furious Storm

The UK Coastguard alerted Cowes RNLI shortly after midday following a Mayday from the stricken vessel. The crew reported broken steering and engine failure while stranded three miles off Cowes in the rough Western Solent.

Heroic Lifeboat Crew Bravely Tackles Rough Waters

Cowes RNLI’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Shenna Louise, raced to the scene. They found the sailboat floundering with dead engines amid the storm. A Cowes RNLI spokesman said: “It was pretty horrendous out there by all accounts.”

Safe Return After Gruelling Tow Back to Port

The lifeboat crew quickly secured a tow line and battled the seas to pull the vessel back to Cowes Harbour. The rescue took over an hour. Fortunately, everyone is now safe and on dry land, recovering after their ordeal.
