Blaze Rips Through Shop and Flat in Uxbridge Road
A ground-floor shop and half of a first-floor flat have been engulfed in flames, sparking chaos on Uxbridge Road this afternoon.
Four Escaped, Being Treated for Injuries
A child, a man, and two women managed to flee the burning building before firefighters arrived. They are now receiving medical attention on the scene from London Ambulance Service crews.
Firefighters Battle Thick Smoke and Danger
Station Commander David Reed, who’s directing the operation, warned: “The fire is producing heavy smoke in the local area. Residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed.”
Fire crews are using a 32-metre turntable ladder as an observation platform, alongside thermal imaging cameras, to keep tabs on the blaze and prevent it from spreading.
Road Closure Causes Disruption
Uxbridge Road is shut between Devonport Road and Ingersoll Road while firefighters work to secure the scene. Locals are urged to avoid the area where possible.
Multiple Fire Stations on the Scene
The Brigade received the emergency call at 3.57pm. Fire engines have been dispatched from Acton, Paddington, Richmond, Wandsworth, and nearby stations to tackle the inferno.
Officials have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
