Motorcyclist Killed After Hit-and-Run at Redbridge

Tragedy struck on Friday, 17 December 2021, when 20-year-old motorcyclist Saleem Ahmed was fatally struck by an Audi TT on Hainault Road, Redbridge. Police were called at around 9.20pm to reports of the collision.

Despite efforts by the London Ambulance Service, Saleem died at the scene. Shockingly, the Audi TT driver fled on foot, leaving the young rider to perish alone.

One Arrest Made as Investigation Continues

Officers have made one arrest linked to the incident. Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are working tirelessly to piece together what happened.

Family Plea for Information

Saleem’s mother, Nadia, said:

“It is extremely hard to put into words the effect of losing Saleem has had on our family. We are struggling to process his loss, especially in these circumstances. I would ask anyone who has information about the incident personally, please speak to the police. Please do the right thing, for Saleem and our family.”

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Detective Sergeant Eddie Coleman, leading the investigation, said:

“This is an incredibly tragic incident that has left a family devastated. The driver made off from the scene. If anyone has any information about this fatal collision, please come forward and speak to police.

“I am also asking anyone who was near the A12 junction with Hainault Road around 9.20pm on Friday, 17 December 2021, and has dash cam footage to come forward.”

“Any witnesses or anyone with information, please help us provide answers to the victim’s grieving family.”
