Thameslink Trains Cancelled Due to Scorching Heat
Brace yourselves, commuters! On Tuesday, July 19, no Thameslink trains will run on the Midland Main Line between Bedford and London Blackfriars. This includes stops via Luton, St Albans, and St Pancras. The blistering heat has forced this drastic move.
East Coast Main Line Shut for Safety Reasons
Network Rail has also shut the East Coast Main Line to and from King’s Cross on Tuesday. The extreme temperatures have pushed the track and power systems beyond their safe limits. The rail link between Cambridge and King’s Lynn remains closed due to a buckled track caused by the heat.
No Thameslink or Great Northern Trains North of London
With these closures, no Thameslink or Great Northern services will run north of London on Tuesday. This affects routes from London Blackfriars via St Pancras, and from King’s Cross or Moorgate.
Customer Advice and Compensation
Jenny Saunders, Customer Services Director for Thameslink and Great Northern, said: “There will be no Thameslink or Great Northern services north of London Blackfriars on Tuesday due to extreme temperatures having a severe impact on railway infrastructure.”
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but the safety of our passengers will always be our top priority.
“Customers can use their Tuesday tickets on the following two days, or claim a refund or compensation. We strongly advise passengers to travel by rail only if absolutely necessary, especially to coastal destinations likely facing major disruption.”
