Massive Blaze Erupts on Dalston Lane
Twelve fire engines and around 100 firefighters are battling a fierce fire at a property on Dalston Lane in Hackney. The blaze broke out early Tuesday morning, with emergency crews called at 9:20am to a four-storey block of flats.
Firefighters Battle Intense Flames
Fire crews arrived to find a fully developed fire, quickly requesting backup from nearby stations including Homerton, Stoke Newington, Leyton, and Islington. Smoke was seen pouring from the top floors.
Two flats — one on the second floor and another on the third — have been badly damaged.
Road Closures and Transport Disruption
Dalston Lane remains closed as firefighters work to make the scene safe. This has caused serious congestion, forcing local bus routes 30 and 56 onto diversionary routes.
Station Commander Chris Swallow urged locals: “Please avoid the area where possible.”
Fire Under Control, Investigation Underway
The London Fire Brigade confirmed the fire was under control by 12:44pm. The cause remains unknown and is now being investigated by authorities.
