Mystery Death: Woman Found Dead in River Waveney

Police are scrambling for answers after a woman’s body was pulled from the River Waveney at Beccles just after 8am on New Year’s Day.

Tragic Morning Discovery at The Quay

A member of the public raised the alarm after spotting the woman beneath the bridge at The Quay. Emergency crews rushed to the scene but sadly confirmed she had died.

Police say the death is unexplained but insist there’s no sign of foul play. The Coroner has been notified.

Who Was She? Police Plead for Public Help

The victim remains unidentified. Detectives are keen to trace her movements before she was found.

  • White female, estimated 60–70 years old
  • Petite frame
  • Short, curly brown-copper hair
  • Wearing cream cardigan, blue top, white jeans, white boots
  • May have had a pink coat, torch, and umbrella
