Jamie Acourt, 41, wanted over the infamous Stephen Lawrence murder investigation, has been arrested in Barcelona. The South London fugitive was caught just after leaving the Metropolitan’s Sagrada Familia Gym, the National Crime Agency revealed this afternoon.
Armed Police Grab Acourt in Spanish Sting
Spanish officers stormed Acourt’s location today, acting on a European Arrest Warrant issued by London’s Metropolitan Police. Linked to a major drug supply network, the 41-year-old is now in custody and faces extradition back to the UK.

Acourt marks the 81st arrest out of 96 fugitives hunted by Operation Captura. This no-nonsense taskforce is a collaboration between the National Crime Agency, Crimestoppers, and Spanish cops, working to bring UK criminals hiding abroad to justice.
Extradition Hearing to Take Place in Madrid
Acourt is set to appear in a Madrid court early next week for his extradition hearing. His arrest caps off a Serious and Organised Crime Command investigation that’s been underway since 2016.
