Couple Found Dead After Atlantic Sailing Attempt

A daring couple aiming to cross the Atlantic Ocean have been tragically found dead in a lifeboat off Canada’s coast. Brett Clibbery and Sarah Packwood’s raft washed ashore on remote Sable Island, about 108 miles southeast of Nova Scotia, according to local media reports.

Who Were They? UK Woman and Canadian Man

Ms. Packwood is believed to be from the UK, while Mr. Clibbery hailed from Canada. However, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police initially stated both were from British Columbia. Formal ID and DNA tests have yet to confirm the bodies’ identities.

Vanished at Sea After Setting Sail from Halifax

The couple set off from Halifax Harbour on June 11 aboard their eco-friendly yacht, Theros, headed for the Azores in Portugal. They were reported missing on June 18. Their lifeboat was discovered nearly a month later on July 10.

Family Breaks Silence, Sailing Community Mourns

James Clibbery, Brett’s son, shared a heartbreaking message on Facebook:

“The past few days have been very hard. My father James Brett Clibbery, and his wife, Sarah Justine Packwood, have regrettably passed away. There is still an investigation and DNA tests to confirm, but with all the news, it is hard to remain hopeful.”

He added the couple will be “forever missed,” highlighting the devastating impact of their unexplained deaths.

Eco Voyage Ended in Tragedy

The couple documented their journey on their YouTube channel, Theros Adventures. Their so-called “green odyssey” featured an electric Nissan Leaf battery and six solar panels powering their yacht.

Authorities continue to investigate the mystery surrounding their fate, leaving the sailing world stunned and grieving this tragic loss.
