Man arrested over 2017 playground murder of teen Corey Junior Davis
24-year-old held then released under investigation
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday, 13 March, linked to the 2017 killing of teenager Corey Junior Davis. The suspect has since been released under investigation as police continue probing the case.
Tragic shooting in East London playground
Corey, known as CJ, was just 14 when he was shot in the head during a daylight attack at a playground on Moore Walk, E7, on 4 September 2017 at around 3.08pm. The young teen had been hanging out with a friend when the gunfire ripped through the area.
He was rushed to hospital but sadly died the following day.
Police vow justice for victim and family
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “This is an important development in our investigation and shows our commitment to seeking justice for CJ and his family.”
“We have informed them of the arrest and will continue to support them as our enquiries continue.”
