Portsmouth Gospel Choir Hits the Finals in National Showdown!
The University of Portsmouth Gospel Choir is buzzing after landing a spot in the finals of the UK’s biggest student gospel contest. Out of thousands across the country, this 82-strong group is one of just eight choirs fighting for the coveted University Gospel Choir of the Year crown.
Five Years of Glory and Counting
As the choir gears up to celebrate its fifth birthday, secretary Lauren Haizel-Cobbina shared their excitement: “Being part of such an uplifting event is a real blessing. We’re thrilled just to be competing and winning would be the cherry on top. This milestone year means plenty of celebrations are lined up to mark our growing success.”
Star-Studded Finals at Golders Green
The big showdown goes live this Saturday at Golders Green Hippodrome, hosted by MOBO Award winner Rachel Kerr. Portsmouth Gospel Choir will face off against last year’s champs, University Voices, plus ACLF Choir Southampton, Christ Church Gospel Choir, Coventry University Gospel Rhythms, De Montfort University Gospel Choir, De Montfort University Student Choir, and Middlesex University Gospel Choir.
