Isle of Wight Coastguard Teams assist Ambulance after 10 Year Boy Falls at Smugglers Haven

The UK Coastguard operation centre at Fareham tasked two of the Island’s Coastguard Search and Rescue teas to assist the Isle of Wight ambulance service on Sunday afternoon. Teams from Ventnor and Bembridge Coastguard assisted with extraction of a 10 year old boy with a potential spinal injury. The location was a heavily wooded area at Smugglers Haven, near Devils Chimney.Teams extricated the 10 year old boy via a pulley system through woodland area about 200 yards in distance. The young boy was them taken to St Mary’s Hospital after being placed on a spinal board and neck brac by Paramedics from Isle of Wight Ambulance service
