Blaze Hits Dagenham Shops and Flats – Firefighters Rush to Scene
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters battled a fierce blaze at a row of shops with flats above and a play centre on Church Elm Lane, Dagenham.
Fire Causes Damage to Flats, Roof, and Play Centre
The fire tore through part of two flats on the ground and second floors, damaging the roof. At the rear, a detached single-storey building housing a play centre was also hit hard. An external courtyard was completely destroyed in the inferno.
Residents Escape Unharmed as Fire Brigade Responds
Two adults and three children from one flat, along with one adult from another, evacuated before firefighters arrived. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Emergency Services Respond Quickly – Fire Under Control Within 75 Minutes
The London Fire Brigade received 28 calls reporting the fire. The alarm was raised at 7.30pm, and crews from Dagenham, Wennington, Ilford, Barking, and Hornchurch tackled the blaze. They had the fire under control by 8.45pm.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
