Workmen Detain Knifeman After Brutal Daylight Hate Attack in Stoke Newington
A suspected knifeman was pinned down by quick-thinking workmen after launching a shocking racially motivated attack in broad daylight on Friday morning in Stoke Newington.
Attack Outside Cafe
An Hasidic Jewish man was reportedly stabbed multiple times by a lone attacker outside a local cafe, witnesses revealed. The victim, in his 50s, sustained serious stab wounds.
Heroic Workmen Step In
Before police arrived, a group of workmen sprang into action, restraining the attacker—also aged in his 40s—on the ground to stop further harm.
Police Confirm Arrest, Investigation Underway
A Met Police spokesperson said:
“At 10.54am, officers responded to reports of a man being held down in Stoke Newington High Street, N16. Both police and London Ambulance Service attended.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was found with stab wounds and taken to hospital. The suspect, also in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has minor head injuries and has been hospitalised.
At this stage, the investigation is not being treated as terror-related. We await updates on the victim’s condition.”
Police continue their inquiry into the violent hate crime that has left the community shaken.
