David Bailey Banned After Dangerous Stunt in Stolen Land Rover

David Bailey, 39, faced justice at Taunton Crown Court on Friday 8 January. The no-fixed-address driver pleaded guilty to a string of motoring offences after a chaotic crash escape in Yeovil.

Stolen Land Rover Causes Havoc on Yeovil Streets

Bailey nabbed a Land Rover Discovery from a Bruton farm overnight on 30-31 August. The very next day, on 1 September, trouble hit the streets of Yeovil.

An on-duty cop spotted the stolen car hurtling towards him on the WRONG side of the road. Quick thinking from the officer avoided a collision, but Bailey sped off, forcing bystanders to dodge out of the way.

Bailey Arrested After Abandoning Stolen Vehicle

The Land Rover was later dumped in Yeovil’s Westfield area. Police caught up with Bailey and arrested him for dangerous driving, taking a vehicle without consent, driving while disqualified, and no insurance.

Bailey has now been banned from driving for 30 months.

Police Praise Tough Sentence

“David Bailey is a prolific offender in the Yeovil area and we welcome the custodial sentence he has received,” said PC Jim Card from Operation Remedy.

“His driving put himself and innocent members of the public at risk. Such actions cannot be left unpunished.”
