Woman, 70, Robbed in Whitefield – Suspect Flees Police
At 8.55am on Sunday 28 March, a woman in her 70s was robbed on Rectory Green, Whitefield. Thieves snatched her mobile phone and bank card in broad daylight.
Suspect Struggles with Police – Then Makes Escape
Moments later, a man believed to be the culprit clashed with officers trying to arrest him. After resisting arrest, he managed to flee the scene, sparking a police manhunt and public appeal.
Robbery Suspect Busted and Charged
Lovemore Mandega, from Church Drive, Prestwich, has now been charged with robbery and two counts of assaulting police during the attempted arrest. He remains in custody.
Mandega is due before Manchester Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Tuesday 6 April 2021.
