Man in Critical Condition After Double Stabbing in Basingstoke
A man was left fighting for his life after a brutal double stabbing in Basingstoke this afternoon.
Knife Attack Sparks Emergency Response
South Central Ambulance Service rushed to the scene after multiple 999 calls at around 3.15pm reported a serious assault on a man and woman in St Peter’s Road.
They sent two rapid response vehicles, three ambulances, and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. Police also arrived shortly before 3.45pm, sealing off the area between Margaret Road and St Nicholas Court.
Victims’ Conditions Revealed
The man was taken by road to University Hospital southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton. He remains in a critical condition following the stabbing.
The woman suffered minor injuries to her hand and arm and was treated at North Hampshire Hospital.
Police Keep Area Cordoned Off
A Hampshire Police spokesman confirmed both victims had stab wounds. The heavy police presence remains, with the road cordoned off and officers on scene for the foreseeable future.
“We received multiple 999 calls around 15:15 this afternoon all reporting a serious assault on an adult male and female in St Peter’s Road,” said a South Central Ambulance Service spokesperson.
“Following initial treatment at the scene, the male patient was taken in a critical condition by road to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Southampton with the air ambulance team travelling with him.
The female patient had sustained minor hand/arm injuries and was taken to North Hampshire Hospital, Basingstoke, for further treatment.”
Investigations are ongoing as police hunt for the attacker.
