Mercedes GLC Coupe Chase Ends in Arrest on the M25
Stolen Merc Spotted on M25
On the night of Wednesday, 25 January 2023, a high-speed chase unfolded on the M25 after a stolen Mercedes GLC 220 Coupe was spotted by Kent Police’s Roads Policing Unit. The car, reported stolen from Kings Hill under the cover of darkness, was driving with fake number plates.
Driver Flees but Caught on Foot
Officers in an unmarked patrol car signalled for the driver to pull over at a layby. Instead of stopping, the thief slammed the accelerator and sped off dangerously. The chase ended when the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Police quickly searched the area and arrested a man nearby.
Charged With Multiple Offences
The arrest led to the seizure of a rucksack found inside the car, containing extra number plates and tools likely used in the theft. Vilmantas Raudys, 31, with no fixed address, was charged by the Tonbridge Victim Based Crime Team with theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, and driving without a license.
Raudys appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court and was remanded ahead of a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 23 January.
