A Drug Dealer Who Was Caught Hiding Cocaine Inside His Underpants Has Been Jailed
Dean Beeching was driving through the Hucknall area when he spotted a
police car behind him.
The 32-year-old immediately then pulled over his vehicle in Portland Road
and waited for the squad car to pass him by.
This aroused the suspicions of the city knife crime team officers out on
patrol in the car, who circled back around as a result.
After returning minutes later, cops spotted Beeching again but this time he
was standing away from the car – even though it was raining heavily.
Officers made the decision to approach Beeching and carry out a search,
with it then quickly becoming apparent that he was concealing something
under his clothing.
These suspicions proved to be correct, with a further search leading to the
seizure of more than 15 wraps of cocaine and £900 in cash that he’d been
trying to hide in his underpants.
Following this discovery on 3 October 2020, Beaching was arrested but
answered “no comment” to all the questions put to him during police
interview.
Beeching, of HMP Ranby, later pleaded guilty to possessing with intent to
supply Class A drugs.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday (31 January) for sentencing,
he was jailed for two years and two months.
PC Shemane Marsh, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Thanks to the intuition
of our officers, Beeching was caught red-handed with multiple wraps of
cocaine that he intended to sell to others.
“The proactive stop and search by the team on patrol that day helped ensure
we were able to intercept a quantity of Class A drugs before it could do
any harm.
“It’s no exaggeration at all to say that drugs ruin lives, which is why we
work so hard as a force to try and eradicate drugs from our streets and
prosecute anyone trying to profit from them.
“We hope this sentence sends out a strong message to anyone thinking of
dealing drugs across our county.”
