Quick Thinking Cops Nab Hucknall Drug Dealer in Rainy Sting
Dean Beeching thought he’d shake off the police by pulling over in Hucknall. But his dodgy behaviour caught the eye of the city knife crime team, leading to a big bust.
Beeching’s Suspicious Move Triggers Police Attention
While driving through Portland Road, Beeching spotted a police car behind him and immediately pulled over to let it pass. This move didn’t fool officers out on patrol – they circled back, growing suspicious.
Minutes later, they found Beeching standing outside his car in the pouring rain, away from the vehicle. That raised red flags, prompting officers to approach and search him.
15 Wraps of Cocaine and £900 Found Hidden
The search uncovered more than 15 wraps of cocaine and £900 cash hidden in Beeching’s underpants. Arrested on the spot on 3 October 2020, he clammed up during police interviews, answering “no comment” to every question.
Jailed for Over Two Years at Nottingham Crown Court
Beeching, held at HMP Ranby, later pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply. On Tuesday 31 January, Nottingham Crown Court sentenced him to two years and two months behind bars.
PC Shemane Marsh, Nottinghamshire Police: “Thanks to the intuition of our officers, Beeching was caught red-handed with multiple wraps of cocaine he intended to sell. Our proactive stop and search helped intercept dangerous Class A drugs before they could harm anyone.”
“Drugs ruin lives – we work tirelessly to rid our streets of these substances and prosecute dealers. We hope this sentence sends a clear warning to anyone thinking of dealing in our county.”
