Police Raid Workshop, Find Vans in Pieces

Officers swooped on a workshop in Retford’s West Carr Business Park at 11.35pm on Sunday (March 19). Inside, they uncovered a stash of dismantled vans and vehicle parts.

Three Await Court Over Stolen Goods Charges

A full investigation led to three suspects being charged. Shamus Gray, 24, from Gainsborough, faces three counts of handling stolen goods. He’s set to appear at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on April 25, 2023.

Gregory Perry, 31, with no fixed address, is charged with two counts. Nathan Smith, 37, from Gainsborough, faces one count. Both are due in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (March 21).

Bassetlaw Police Crack Down on Vehicle Crime

“We take motor vehicle crime extremely seriously and treat it as a key priority in Bassetlaw because we know the impact it can have on families and individuals,” said Inspector Hayley Crawford, district commander for Bassetlaw.

“Anyone who believes stolen cars are being handled, dismantled or used for criminal purposes in their neighbourhood should get in touch with officers.”

“I am pleased that we have secured these charges, and the three suspects will now appear in court,” added the prosecutor.

“I’d like to thank the response teams, neighbourhood officers, and specialist vehicle examiners for their efforts thus far in the investigation.”
