Man Trapped After Plane Crashes at Upminster Airfield
A man remains trapped inside a plane that crashed at Damyns Hall aerodrome in Upminster today.
Massive Emergency Response at the Scene
The alarm was raised at 12:09pm, prompting a massive response. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters rushed to the crash site.
Rescue teams have already pulled a woman from the wreckage. Both occupants suffered minor injuries, including broken ankles, but their lives are not believed to be in danger.
Firefighters Battle to Free Trapped Man
Station Commander Jeremy Davies, leading the rescue, said: “Firefighters are working with partners to free a man trapped inside a lightweight aircraft near the aerodrome.”
London Ambulance Service crews are at the scene treating the woman who was freed. Police confirmed the crash was reported just after take-off near Aveley Road, Upminster.
No Life-Threatening Injuries
A Met Police spokesperson said: “A man and woman were involved. Neither suffered life-threatening or life-altering injuries. Emergency services remain at the scene working to free the trapped man.”
The rescue included crews from Hornchurch, Wennington, East Ham, and Dagenham, working swiftly to contain the situation.
