Detectives in Dundee are seeking the public’s help as they investigate two separate incidents of wilful fire raising. The first incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 15 October, when an Audi RS3 TFSI Quattro car was set ablaze outside a property on Stewart’s Lane. Shortly after, officers were called to another report of a BMW X3 car on fire on Charleston Drive, which caused significant damage to four neighbouring vehicles.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service swiftly extinguished the fires. However, the authorities are treating these incidents seriously and are appealing for any information that could assist with their investigation.
Detective Constable David Feeney, of Dundee CID, emphasised the importance of the community’s cooperation and vigilance in solving these cases. While it is unclear if the two incidents are connected, the police are keeping an open mind and exploring all possibilities.
DC Feeney urged anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed anything suspicious to come forward and share their observations with the authorities. Additionally, the police are particularly interested in obtaining dashcam footage from anyone who was driving in the vicinity during the incidents.
Police Scotland can be contacted at 101, quoting incident number 0150 of Sunday, 15 October, 2023. Alternatively, individuals can provide information anonymously through Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
