Met Police Smash Massive London Drug Gang

The Met Police have dealt a major blow to a ruthless drug trafficking gang planning to flood London’s streets with dangerous Class A drugs. After a three-year investigation, officers pieced together the criminals’ moves and crushed their operation.

£8.8 Million Worth of Cocaine Seized

The organised gang smuggled drugs into the UK in 19 shipments between May and August 2020. The street value of the cocaine? A staggering £8.8 million. Met officers used extensive CCTV footage and hacked encrypted communication on Encrochat to track and expose the gang’s activities.

12 Sentenced – Including the Lynn Brothers

The hard work paid off with 12 people sentenced for their roles. Jonathan Lynn, 41, of Epsom, was locked up for 15 years and 3 months. His brother, Nicholas Lynn, 35, got an 18 year and 8 month jail term. The final two were sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on April 19.

Detective Inspector Lydia Stephens, Specialist Crime South Unit: “This case shows the amazing work from the Met’s dedicated detectives to identify, catch and prosecute organised criminals. We’re committed to dismantling drug networks from top to bottom to keep London safe.”

Detective Constable Leon Ure praised teamwork: “Multiple Met units came together to shut down this pipeline of Class A drugs. Without everyone’s dedication, these convictions wouldn’t be possible. We will continue protecting Londoners from dangerous criminals.”

International Hunt Ends in Arrests

Jonathan Lynn was finally arrested in Fuengirola, Spain, in November 2022 thanks to European cooperation. Nicholas Lynn was previously caught in Kent in February 2021. Officers meticulously gathered evidence, including footage from Thurrock services—a key handover spot for huge drug consignments bound for London.

As part of the Met’s ongoing “New Met for London” plan, police are cracking down on crime, targeting the gangs and keeping communities safe.
