Two Men Charged Over Swanscombe Car Theft During Knife Robbery
Two men have been arrested and charged following a knife robbery in Swanscombe that ended with a car theft. The terrifying incident happened on Friday, April 12, 2024, when a man was threatened with a knife while standing next to his Mercedes on Stanley Road.
Victim Assaulted as Suspects Steal Car and Keys
The victim tried to escape but was reportedly attacked by a second man. During the struggle, the suspects grabbed his car keys and made off with the vehicle.
Police Recover Van, Phone, and Stolen Mercedes
Kent Police later recovered a van in Dartford believed to be used by the robbers. Inside the vehicle’s footwell, officers found a mobile phone linked to the suspects. The stolen Mercedes was also discovered abandoned in Greenhithe.
Suspects Named and Remanded to Court
After a thorough probe by the Kent Crime Squad, including forensic checks on the vehicles, two men were arrested on Thursday, May 9. Brume Tadafe, 34, from Deptford, and Laurence Oyewole, 40, from Finchley, now face robbery charges.
Both men appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 10, where they were remanded in custody.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
