Starmer Condemns Iran’s Attack on Israel, Urges British Nationals to Leave Lebanon

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has issued a strong statement condemning Iran’s recent actions “to harm innocent Israelis” and escalate tensions in the Middle East.

In a press conference held earlier today, Starmer expressed his support for Israel and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities.

We stand with Israel, and recognize her right to self-defence in the face of this aggression,” Starmer declared. He urged Iran and its proxies, such as Hezbollah, to halt their attacks, emphasizing that these actions are pushing the region “ever-closer to the brink.

The Prime Minister voiced deep concern about the current situation in the Middle East, warning of the potential for miscalculation that could further destabilize the region. Starmer reiterated the UK’s support for “Israel’s reasonable demand for the security of its people.

In light of the escalating tensions, Starmer described the situation in Lebanon as “grave” and issued an urgent advisory for British nationals in the area to leave immediately. If you have the means to leave, the time is now,” he stressed.

When questioned about the possibility of UK military involvement in Israel’s defence, the Prime Minister avoided a direct answer. Instead, he characterized the situation as “evolving” and reiterated the UK’s solidarity with Israel.

As the crisis unfolds, international observers are closely monitoring the UK’s stance and potential role in addressing the growing instability in the Middle East.
