Starmer Slams Iran Over Attacks on Israel
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has slammed Iran for “harming innocent Israelis” and ramping up tensions in the Middle East. Speaking at a press conference today, Starmer backed Israel and called for an immediate halt to the violence.
Full Support for Israel’s Right to Defend
“We stand with Israel and recognise her right to self-defence amid this aggression,” Starmer declared. He urged Iran and its allies, including Hezbollah, to stop their attacks, warning their actions are driving the region “ever closer to the brink.”
The Prime Minister also voiced serious concern over the risk of miscalculation that could further destabilise the Middle East. He emphasised the UK’s support for “Israel’s reasonable demand for the security of its people.”
Urgent Warning for Brits in Lebanon
Starmer described the situation in Lebanon as “grave” and issued a stern warning for British nationals to leave immediately. “If you have the means to leave, the time is now,” he stressed.
Military Involvement? Starmer Dodges Direct Answer
When pressed on the possibility of UK troops aiding Israel’s defence, the Prime Minister kept his cards close to his chest. He called the situation “evolving” but reaffirmed Britain’s solidarity with Israel.
As the crisis swells, all eyes are on the UK’s next moves in tackling the spiralling unrest in the Middle East.
