Appeal Following Fatal Collision in Wallington

Detectives investigating a fatal incident in Wallington are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, 1 October, at approximately 9.45pm on Manor Road, near the junction with Melbourne Road, SM6. Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to respond to a collision involving a box panel van and a man.

Emergency services attended the scene and provided first aid. Sadly, despite their efforts, the man, who was in his 70s, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed, and the man’s family is being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the box panel van stopped at the scene and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail as the investigation continues.
